the thing about fear

for the believer, fear is smoke and mirrors

distorting the truth
that there is no reality greater
than the one we hold -

that Jesus is alive,
that Jesus has conquered death
that Jesus has broken the power of sin
that Jesus has unshackled us from the curse of the law.

sometimes we have to remind ourselves
that satan is a liar
and that when he lies,
it sounds so convincing
because he speaks from his own nature.

But His sheep hear His voice
and they know Him and follow Him.
those trained to know His voice will know truth
and the truth will set us free.

free from fear
free from lies
free from anxiety
fear from living as a prisoner of war in the camp of an enemy who is defeated forever.

the thing about fear is -
it’s not real.
