a good opportunity

Morning Meditation on Mark 14:3-11

A good opportunity - she found it.

She was not valued as a key player, no seat at the table for her. She came, unannounced, no fanfare or production, just a woman

with a gift
and a heart
that was poured out for Jesus.

She seized the good opportunity before her, wisely reading the signs…there may not be another moment like this.

So she broke the jar, she broke herself and Jesus called it “noble”, a gift for Him.
But the others in the room saw waste and frivolity and a lack of concern for the needy.

They saw this as a good opportunity to let their righteous judgment be heard.
Jesus told them they had it all wrong and that the only part of their evening that would be memorialized forever would be her.

And then there’s Judas, a man jockeying for his moment and finding it, a good opportunity to

seize power
profit financially
make a name for himself.

In this house, good opportunities abound.
And each responded in a way that revealed their hearts.

Lay down >>>>>>> Abandon
Sit back >>>>>>>>> Self-righteous judgment
Walk out >>>>>>>>Betrayal
