co-heir

“Look how good God is! God has given men the ministry of the church and He has given women responsibility for the rest of the world!” - women in leadership in the underground church in China, from The Insanity of Obedience, Nik Ripken.

There is an appetite for fighting in the church that is garish. Old fight with the young. Conservatives fight with liberals. Women fight with men. Everyone is jockeying for a seat of honor. Who will sit at Your right hand in glory? that seems to be the question on everyone’s lips.

I just don’t care.
I don’t care to use my time to throw jabs or my breath to spew insults.
I don’t care to have someone on earth weigh in on what God Himself has already declared about me.

I am a co-heir with Christ.
Me, woman, daughter of Eve.
Co-heir, recipient of the inheritance that is imperishable and undefiled, reserved in heaven for me.
Christ, the image of God, the first fruit of the dead through the resurrection.

If you have a problem with that, a question about that, talk to Him.
I do not desire to be anything more than He created me to be, but I will settle for no less.
And right here, in this beautiful, sacred co-heir status, I am fully woman, fully child of God.
