slow fade

so vibrant a color wouldn’t encapsulate their glory
they open up - boldly splaying petals
arrested attention is the only response.

they stand on display, glass and water the pedestal
splendor fades - should i look away?
their beauty shouted; their surrender is silent.

the white flag waves
gossamer petals lie in state on the table
mission complete, i pay my respects.
