Weed or Flower?

I texted my mom a picture of something growing in my yard. It was green and lush with delicately shaped leaves. It was growing as ground cover and it looked quite nice. But was it supposed to be there? Should I pull it or let it keep going and keep growing?

Enter my mom. She knows her grass, folks.

Is this a weed?
Yes,
the reply came back. And out that "ground cover" came.

There should be people in our lives who will be so honest. Not all growth is good. Not everything spreading in our lives should be there. It might be camouflaged at first, but left long enough, a weed will make its presence known. Pulling it early will interrupt the web of roots growing below the surface, in the unseen places of us.

Is this good?
Is this right?
Is this noble?
Is this making me more like Christ?

These are the questions we need to ask. Is what is growing in me good?

Don't mistake a weed for a flower.
And if you're not sure what is growing in your life, ask someone who knows you and loves you enough to tell you the truth.
