Gift

What if the gift isn’t something I can two-day Prime to my front door?

What if the gift isn’t something to be wrapped, gift receipt tucked nicely inside?

What if the gift isn’t something I search for but something I find -

right here
right now
in this house
in this season
with these people
with these problems

The gift isn’t out there; its this present moment in my present body in my present circumstances.

I’m just as happy with little as with much, with much as with little. I’ve found the recipe for being happy whether full or hungry, hands full or hands empty. Whatever I have, wherever I am, I can make it through anything in the One who makes me who I am. Philippians 4:12-13

When you know the Giver, you learn to see everything under His sovereign reign as gift.

God, grant me eyes to see,
and a heart
to embrace
what You give.
