battleground

From my morning meditation on Genesis 17:1-6:

The disparity between my reality and the promises of God is always a battleground. The weapon securing victory is FAITH.

It strikes me that the “big moments” in the Bible, like God promising to make Abram, a childless 99 yr old, into a great nation, are really just ordinary days. Yes, God is speaking, but after the sun sets on this amazing day where Abram’s name is changed and many promises are given, he will wake up in the same tent with the same wife in the same predicament - they’re childless.

The promise of God is an invitation to believe what He says is true before it comes to pass.

The battleground is an ordinary day, filled with ordinary tasks, surrounded by ordinary people.
The danger is never out there - its more usually right here.

That’s scary.
