This word has been floating in the periphery of my mind for days. When I search for a word to describe my mood, the weather, the state of cleanliness in my house, it's there. Caught, like a neurological stutter.

Vapid, vapid, vapid.

Perhaps if I keep repeating, keep turning it over, keep trying it out as the word I am seeking, it will make sense.

What is the lesson?
An awareness that this exists, that vapidity is real and that it afflicts more than care to admit it?
What is the warning?
That if I do not learn it, if I do not acknowledge it, that I am more likely to become it?

I am still seeking clarification.
